Support for wives: living by God’s principles in homes divided by emotional, spiritual or physical separation, unbelieving husbands, or divorce.
If a house is divided against itself, that house cannot stand (Mark 3:25).
When a house is divided
Since January of the year 2000, Hope in a House Divided, has provided online support for women who are struggling in their marriage situations.
Divisions in the home affect not only husband and wife, but children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, parents, siblings, in-laws, and other family members. Most homes experience minor divisions at times. But many homes face severe and chronic divisions. Husbands and wives may experience:
- Emotional or physical separation, though still living together
- Spiritual division: a Christian living with an unbelieving spouse
- Differences in degree of commitment to Christ, though both are Christians
- Separate housing, living apart with or without legal separation
- Death of marriage partner
Our hope is undivided
We may live in a divided house, but our hope is undivided. We can be confident of this hope, because it is not hope that we must attain ourselves. Jesus attained this hope for us on the cross. It is not hope in what will happen. It is hope in the One who makes all things work together for good for those who love him. It is hope in a loving Shepherd who calls us to believe, trust, and follow Him.
If you are a woman living in a house divided, you are invited to come grow with women who are experiencing similar circumstances. Hope in a House Divided offers support to help women live by God’s principles in their present need. We provide a private, informal email discussion group where women experiencing these divisions can share needs, prayers, fellowship, and support via email. Our Leaders prepare and lead discussion of Bible studies for women on topics related to wives and marriage. This group is not just for Christians. Any woman who wishes to join our group, realizing she will get Christian input, may do so.
You can also find help through our women’s Bible studies, listed in the sidebar. We are here to help.
For my personal story, including how God brought Hope in a House Divided to be (as one of our leaders put it recently, “God loving you so much in a time of need that you had to share it”) see Lois’ Story.
If a house is divided against itself, that house cannot stand.
But as for me, I will always have hope; I will praise you more and more.
